Year 3 – Kestrels

Welcome to Kestrels Class!

Year 3 is a transitional year from Key Stage 1 into Key Stage 2. The children will become more independent in both their organisational skills and learning.

Key Information

  • Teacher - Mrs Hughes
  • Teaching Assistant - Mrs Clewley
  • PE will usually take place on Mondays and Fridays.  Children should bring their PE kit in to school on a Monday and leave it here all week please.  Their kit should include warm joggers as we will try to do outdoor possible whenever possible.  Please could the children also remove their earrings on PE days; if this is not possible they should bring tape to cover their earrings in their PE/school bag.

Children are encouraged to read at least 3 times a week. We encourage them to choose a range of books both fiction and non-fiction. To help your child at home, please question them about what they have read and check their understanding of any tricky words.

Weekly homework of Maths and SPAG (spelling, punctuation and grammar) is also also set and children are encouraged to learn and regularly practise key maths number facts (especially times tables).

What will we be learning about this term?

Our topic this Summer term is 'Wealden Wanderers' as part of the whole school theme of 'The Woodlands'.
