Pupil Premium
Please read the information below which gives details of our Pupil Premium Grant and how we allocate the funding.
Pupil Premium Funding is money given to schools from the Government to support the progress of pupils vulnerable to under-achievement as identified by the Government, such as children entitled to Free School Meals, Looked After Children, boys and children with English as an additional language.
The Government believes that the Pupil Premium Funding, which is additional to main school funding based on the number of children registered for Free School Meals on the school roll, is a way to address the current underlying inequalities between vulnerable children and their peers. It is for schools to decide how the pupil premium funding is spent, since they are best placed to assess what additional provision should be made for the individual pupils within their responsibility.
At Salehurst CE Primary School we recognise that not all pupils who are socially disadvantaged are registered or qualify for Free School Meals, and we reserve the right to allocate the Pupil Premium Funding to support any pupils or groups of pupils the school has legitimately identified as being socially disadvantaged. Pupil Premium Funding will be allocated following an internal needs analysis, which will identify priority classes, groups or individuals. This does not necessarily mean that all Free School Meals children require additional support all of the time.
