Starfish Malawi - our link school
Proverbs 17:17 Good News Translation (GNT) of the Bible.
“Friends always show their love."
Our Link School.
At Salehurst, we have strong links with Katitima School, Malawi through the Christian charity Starfish Malawi. Several of our staff have visited Katitima to teach at the school and strengthen our partnership through joint curriculum projects and shared activities. The children learn about life in each other’s countries. We have also been visited by staff from Katitima, offering our children opportunities to learn about life and culture in Malawi through art, storytelling, dance and drama. Fundraising events at Salehurst are often organised to help support the pupils at Katitima and we have recently aided in the repair of the school roof, following strong winter winds, the purchase of maize when harvests fail and are helping fund a new toilet block at the school.
Malawi is a landlocked country in south-eastern Africa. It is bordered by Zambia to the west, Tanzania to the north and northeast, and Mozambique to the east, south and southwest. Katitima Full Primary School is 41 km away from Salima District headquarters. Katitima School has 534 pupils in classes 1-8. Further information about Katitima School can be found on Starfish Malawi's website.
Over the years, through the British Council, we have been able to visit Katitima School and develop joint projects to aid the school. Both schools have been developing their gardens for growing food.
We continue to communicate with the staff at Katitima via a WhatsApp group to keep abreast of what is happening in both countries and share information about our schools.
