HOW TO JOIN A CLASS IN GOOGLE CLASSROOM

There are two ways to join a Google Classroom:

• accepting a direct invite
• with a class code (each Google Classroom has a unique code that acts like a passcode to join it)

 

Some teachers may have added each pupil individually to their Google Classroom, in which case there will be an invitation to join when they log in.  Otherwise class codes have been shared during the Autumn term.  Class codes can also be requested from the school office.

> On a PC (laptop/desktop computer):

To join a class with a direct invite, log in to classroom.google.com with your school account (it will not work with a personal Google account).  The classroom dashboard will show any classes you are either already a member of or you have been invited to join.  Click on the blue Join button to join the new class.  

 

To join a class with a code, log in to classroom.google.com with your school account.  Once logged in, click on the + icon in the corner.

 

On the new page that appears, enter the class code into the box and click the join button, which will turn blue when a correct class code has been entered.

 

> On a mobile device (tablet/smartphone):

To join a class with a direct invite, open the Google Classroom app, log in and the the classroom dashboard will show you the classes you are either already a member of or you have been invited to join.  Click on the white Join button to join the new class.  

 

Open the Google Classroom app, log in and then click on the + icon in the corner of the screen.

 

A new screen will pop up asking for a class code. If a correct class code is entered, the Join button will become available to click and confirm.

 

Now that the Google Classroom has been joined, it will automatically appear on the dashboard page at classroom.google.com.  It will not be necessary to enter this code or join this class again. 

 

Pupils should only join classes they belong to for their year group.  If there is more than one Salehurst pupil within your family household, make sure you are logged in to the correct Google school account to join and access the appropriate Google Classroom.
