HOW TO JOIN A LIVE MEETING WITH GOOGLE MEET

Video meets will be set up and started through Google Classroom by the school staff.  Pupils will not be able to start their own Google Meets.  The Meet link will be visible to pupils in the Classroom in time for a scheduled Meet.  

 

> On a PC (laptop/desktop computer):

The Meet link will be visible to pupils in the Classroom banner of the Stream.

 

 

To join a Meet, click on the link and the Meet window will open (usually in a new tab).  You will be able to see who is already in the call and can also turn off your camera and microphone before you join.  Once you are ready to join, click the 'Join now' button.  

 

 

You will then be in the Meet.  The key controls for muting and unmuting, raising your hand and leaving the Meet are at the bottom of the screen.  Hover at the bottom until the icon bar appears.  

 

 

If the teacher has not yet started the Meet, you will see a message saying you cannot create a Meet yourself.  You should refresh/reload the page once the Meet has been started by the teacher.
